As a long-time reseller, I've learned a thing or two about how to save time, increase sales, and simply run a better reselling business. While some of these may seem obvious to me or other experienced resellers, if this post can help anyone run a smoother, more profitable reselling business, then it was worth the time to write this post!
Let's start with some tricks to save time, avoid making big mistakes, and even increase your sales as a reseller.
Note: This post is sponsored by I sella company I have partnered with because I have been a subscriber for years and truly believe it is a beneficial tool for resellers.

Tip #1: Increase your chances of making a sale
When new resellers come to me to tell me that they aren't selling as much as they would like, one thing I ask them is if they are already selling on multiple platforms. Most resellers get there eventually and once you're comfortable with one platform, I think it's very smart to expand to more. Because? Since you've already invested your time and money into publishing that article, why not get it in front of as many people as possible to sell it?
The best way to do this without having to copy and paste across multiple marketplaces is to use a tool like I sell to automatically cross-list your items. It makes it very easy to import your articles from the platform you are already using and publish them on other marketplaces.
Tip #2: Avoid double selling
If you follow my advice above or are already selling on multiple platforms, then you'll want to make sure you avoid double selling. Selling an item to two different people when you only have one is a big mistake that sellers run into. While this doesn't seem very likely, it has happened to me more times than I would like to admit.
The key to avoiding this is that as soon as an item is sold, you need to go to other platforms to remove it before someone else buys it. Even with notifications on my phone, I couldn't always do it fast enough to avoid double selling. My saving grace? Vendoo recently added automatic sales detection with automatic delisting, meaning it detects when you sell an item and automatically removes it from any other platforms it appears on. I haven't had a double sale since I activated this feature in Vendoo. The best part is that all you have to do is turn it on! It does the work for you.

Tip #3: Group Low Value Items
One thing I've learned from reselling for a long time, in many different places, is that sometimes you just don't live in an area where it's easy to find items that sell for a $20 or $30 profit. But if you live in an area where you can get cheap inventory, like at Goodwill Outlet, you can try grouping lower-value items together. For example, tops from target brands that only sell for $5 to $10 online can be grouped together to make a sale of more than $30.
It's a great way to increase the value of your order without having to search for higher value items, something not everyone has access to. This is a strategy I often use when I get home from shopping and discover I made some bad purchases. I do this with kids clothes too!
Tip #4: Save time when pricing your items
Price is one of those things that you usually don't want to just guess about. Price too high and you won't sell the item, price too low and you'll lose profit. But sometimes I find that I go on eBay to research prices and spend too much time scrolling and comparing, which kills the efficiency of my listing.
Fortunately, I sell Added an eBay pricing tool right on your listing page! This uses your title to do a search and get the average listing price and average selling price so you have a good idea of where to price. Don't worry, if you need a little more information, there's also a quick link to open the search results on a separate page. This tool allows me to stay in the flow of my listing without having to constantly switch between tabs or apps. That extra efficiency really adds up when you try to list as many items as possible in one go.
Tip #5: Revive Outdated Listings to Sell Items

Old ads have a harder time selling than new ads. While I don't have scientific data to back this up, I experience it firsthand all the time. I will relist an old item that has been sitting idle for months with hardly any visitors and will suddenly sell. It doesn't happen all the time, but it definitely seems to happen more than selling an old ad. You can relist within each platform, but I personally use Vendoo's bulk listing/relisting tool which allows you to select up to 240 items to be automatically removed and relisted.
Tip #6: Save time editing photos
While there are some great photo editing apps out there, what's the best way to save time editing photos? Take good photos. Sounds simple, right? Bright, natural lighting and a neutral background will always look good and save you from having to make major modifications. Additionally, it can be difficult to edit a photo to make it look better without changing the color of an item, so by taking a good photo from the beginning you won't accidentally mislead buyers.
Tip #7: Use metrics to make profitable decisions
As we work on our business every day, it can be difficult to take a step back and see what's really working. For example, you may think eBay is performing better, but you'll be surprised to see that Poshmark is actually your best platform. This has been the case for me for the last year or more and it still surprises me! Seeing concrete data about things like where you sell the most, which platforms generate the most sales, which brands you sell the most, etc., can help you make good decisions when making purchases that will improve your profits and sales. You can collect this data yourself, but I use Vendoo analytics to see it in an easy-to-understand format.
We hope you found some inspiration in some of these tricks to help you improve your reselling business! These are all things I've learned over the years and these small changes can really have a big impact.
